Fonts are the new trend

by barbara on July 23, 2008 at 1:31 pm

First, musician (and personal life-saver) Francesco Novara got me addicted to Black Letter. Now the guys from College Humor came up with this pretty cool video about fonts getting together for a meeting. Those who still thinks Times New Roman is the name of some Italian newspaper, have a fun chance to get updated!Via Pedro Doria

Getting to the wrong country?

by Karol de Rueda on July 23, 2008 at 6:51 am

When you are about to board an airplane, don’t you daydream with the idea of accidentally taking the wrong flight and ending up in a recondite place quite far away from your original destination? It happens to me in almost every flight I take, but soon I realize that, with all the security and checking points I have to go through, that situation will be pretty much impossible.

Impossible? That is what a family willing to spend a relaxing holiday in a Spanish island also believed until they were told, after landing, a quite unexpected “welcome to Turkey”.

Oldest Bible heading cyberspace

by Karol de Rueda on July 22, 2008 at 11:25 pm

While reading different translations of the Bible, it can be easy to notice some dissimilarities between each other, especially in certain editions influenced by various religions. In fact, some translations can be as divergent, that their interpretation could be the cause of the many separations between beliefs.
But fortunately, this week some of that religious confusion could see an end, because for first time ever, one of the fist copies of the oldest book in the world will be heading, for a global access, into cyberspace.

Pissed to death…

by safeeyah on July 22, 2008 at 8:35 pm

31_train_track.jpgIt was just a few days ago that I sat twiddling my thumbs in a halted train – my final means of commute for the day –while it played havoc with with my logistics schedule.

I’ll have two capirinhas, please

by barbara on July 21, 2008 at 7:04 pm

My theory is that one could prove anything using reliable scientific studies (wine is good for you/wine is bad for you/sweetener is surprisingly bad for your weight loss). So, at the end of the day, it comes down to what you want to believe it’s true.

And I, personally, have just decided this is one of those studies I’ll keep believing forever: it found out that women that have two drinks every day have less chances to dye of heart problems (for men, the equation is even better and they can get up to 4 drinks). Should I have my capirinhas now?

Are you around the Italian region of Lombardy or planning to get there to, among other things, experience its wonderful traditional cuisine and enjoy the richness of its provincial recipes? You better plan on that, because with the new regional law proposed by the controversial Northern League, you really would not have much of a choice.

Don’t go away dear mouse

by Karol de Rueda on July 18, 2008 at 6:42 am

How not to appreciate mice; they are fast, practical and absolutely handy. They know about precision and loyalty. They will never perform a single movement without your approbation. That’s why, when I hear experts predicting their extinction within five years, I wonder how are we going to make it through life without them.
